UPDATE: Got 3rd place in the contest, after losing to Joker Little's Nolanized Penguin and Eric Kenney's Burtonized Riddler, both of which rightfully were placed over my submission, which I honestly didn't expect to be one of the finalists at ALL, so, yeah. I am very happy about this, and congrats to Joker Little for winning! Now, I must work on redesigning Daredevil. Here is the link for the contest, in case you're curious.
My submission for the Superhero of the Month redesign contest. The goal is to render either Penguin, Scarecrow, or Riddler in a way that one of the Batman movie directors would interpret them, provided they have not already done so. So, Penguin as interpreted by Joel Schumacher or Christopher Nolan, Riddler as interpreted by Tim Burton or Christopher Nolan, and/or Scarecrow as interepreted bu Tim Burton or Joel Schumacher. I did Burtonized versions of Riddler and Scarecrow. Below if the description of a possible origin I think Burton would have given Jonathan Crane, AKA Scarecrow.
Jonathan Crane was put under the care of his somewhat crazed grandmother, who was somewhat of a bird fanatic, and had a large broken-down aviary on her property. Although he was warned not to go into the aviary, young Jonathan ventured inside. There, he was viciously attacked by a murder of crows, and his right hand was damaged so badly that amputation was required. Due to this, he developed a crippling fear of crows all through his adolescence, and was mocked and bullied in high school, both for his amputation and for his somewhat lanky stature, earning the mocking nickname 'Scarecrow.' One night, when walking home, he was ambushed by some of his tormentors and strung up in a field, like a scarecrow. This was the last straw, and Jonathan sought revenge on his tormentors. He replaced his prosthetic hand with a sickle, and dressed up as a Scarecrow. At a school dance, Crane cornered the leader of his tormentors outside of the school. Frightened by the Scarecrow, the bully ran into the busy street, and was subsequently struck by a car, killing him. Crane, shocked by this unexpected result, ran away and left the town permanently. Eventually, he gained his doctoral degree in psychology at Gotham University and became a professor of parapsychology, having become fascinated with the power of fear. But when he was fired by the university for inappropriate conduct, both in class and his research, he sought revenge once again...
I got to say ...The sickle hand is awesome !! But it's got to be hard to manipulate chemicals with that . Interesting design, indeed . I don't feel the Burton Touch that much (well, except for the white and black stripes ), it's still pretty cool !
Since I'm a fan of amputed fictionnal characters . (Captain Hook for the win !) The sickle hand is effective from a visual point of view, but not very useful for him, I admit , since he's doing a lot of chemicals stuff .
Thanks, for some reason if Burton ever had Ra's Al Ghul in his movies I imagined he could cast someone like Christopher Lambert as him (or Henri Ducard but that's just me)
Wow! Outstanding job, buddy! I love this design...But I can't say I care for the hook hand. Either way, you did great, and I think this deserved to be in at least second place!
Thanks, man! Yeah, not a lot of people are fans of the hook hand, understandably. Kind of a last minute decision on my part, honestly. Still, thanks for the compliment!

I could somewhat imagine this as the Burton style Scarecrow
Nice Job, would love to see more of these
that's a pretty awesome concept, no ones attempted it other than Nolan would love to see your (or should I say Burton's) twist on the character
